One question that I get from a lot of potential clients is "How do I know when it's time for a rebrand?"
Chances are, if you are asking that question, it most likely is your time to take action. Sometimes, it can be a gut feeling and other times there is hard evidence telling you that it's time to uplevel or change your brand game.
Is It OK to Rebrand?
Short answer—absolutely yes...if it makes sense. I often view businesses as living, breathing entities that grow and change just like people grow and change over time. Honestly, I consider Branch and our brewery to be our third and fourth children—demanding of our time and attention, needing to be cared for and cultivated, and always growing and shifting course.
With that being said, rebranding for the sake of rebranding because you're bored probably isn't the best way to go. There should be a purpose and strategy in place when it comes to shaking things up in your business. Without having a purpose, your rebrand mostly likely won't make you as happy as you hoped it would and it risks falling flat with your audience.
So what are some of those indicators that it might be time to rebranding your business? I'm so glad you asked! :)
1) Your Target Audience Has Changed
If you've noticed that your once-loyal customers are swaying or that you're not quite sure who your ideal customer is anymore, it's time to realign your focus. A rebrand can help you rediscover and connect with your evolving audience, ensuring your message resonates with the right people.
2) Authenticity is Wearing Thin
Your brand should be a genuine reflection of who you are and what your business represents. If you find that there's a disconnect between your internal values and the image you're projecting, it's time for a heart-to-heart with your brand. A rebrand can help you get back on the path of authenticity, where your inside and outside truly match, and you can move your business forward with confidence and clarity.
3) Growing Pains & Expansions
First, congratulations on your business growth! But with growth comes the need to adapt. If you've expanded or changed your products or services, a rebrand can introduce your new offerings and ensure your brand evolves with your business. After all, who doesn't love to see a beloved brand growing and thriving?
4) Competition is Making it Hard to Stand Out
New kids on the block? Increased competition can be a wakeup call for your small business. A rebrand can help you stand out in a sea of similar options, showcasing what makes you unique and capturing the attention of potential customers.
5) Out with the Old, In with the Relevant
The last thing you want is for your brand to look out of date and out of touch with your audience. What was fresh and appealing yesterday can become stale today. An outdated or irrelevant brand can make potential customers scroll right past you. A rebrand can give your business the modern touch it needs, making sure it stays in tune with the times—and with what is relevant for your customers.
Next Steps
Your brand should feel like a well-tailored suit or a warm, inviting hug – it should fit just right, feel good, and catch the eyes of your ideal clients.
